Emulex Corporation announced that its LightPulse Fibre Channel host bus adapters (HBAs) and SAN Storage Switches will now support Microsoft Data Protection Server (DPS). Support for the disk-based backup and recovery system includes storage protection technologies such as Microsoft Multipath I/O (MPIO), Volume Shadow Copy Service (VSS), Virtual Disk Service (VDS) and Storport. http://www.emulex.com

Firetrust Encrypt 1.0 from Firetrust Limited offers consumers and businesses the ability to encrypt outgoing e-mail to protect sensitive information. A key feature is the ability for recipients of the encrypted e-mail to open, decrypt and read it with just their Web browser. From Quest Software comes the newest version of Quest MessageStats, a software solution for Microsoft Exchange usage reporting and analysis. Version 5.0 offers new features, including Executive Summary reports, customizable “At a Glance” dashboards, total e-mail storage and traffic reports across business units, and the ability to audit subject lines, delivery times, mailboxes and Internet SMTP domains. Sybase, Inc. announced that its relational database management system, Sybase Adaptive Server Enterprise (ASE), will be integrated with SAP Business One 2004, a comprehensive business management solution to process data and transactions for SMBs, from SAP AG. Sybase will offer support for migration for SAP Business One apps to Sybase ASE, and make available SAP Business One on Sybase ASE in 25 languages and 37 countries. http://www.sybase.com

Hummingbird Ltd. released Hummingbird Enterprise Content Integration, which allows enterprise data to be shared across each of the components of Hummingbird Enterprise 2004. StorageTek launched its new line of FlexLine online storage systems, designed to provide enterprises with adaptable, disk-based storage infrastructure. The FlexLine FLA300 disk array operates at 2GB/sec and supports up to 14 Fibre Channel drives. The FlexLine FLA210 is suited for smaller environments with support for up to 14 SATA disk drives internally and scales to 112 SATA disk drives in total. The new version offers URL Category Protection—a database of URLs that link to web threats; enhanced filtering to block junk and user-specified mail, as well as spam; LexiRules, which uses Boolean language analysis to protect against new kinds of spam; and neural network techniques that recognize spamming patterns, particularly adult and gambling spam. Iomega unveiled its disk-to-disk autoloader, the REV Autoloader 1000, at the Storage Expo in London, which will ship later this quarter. The backup device, targeted for the SMB market, is a 2U single-drive desktop device that provides 10 slots for a native capacity of 350GB (700GB with 2:1 compression), a transfer rate of 25MB/sec, and is bundled with the enterprise-level BrightStor ARCserve Backup software from CA. Dual SCSI interfaces allow it to connect to a server and a NAS device, and Web-based configuration tools and a front operator panel provide simple access to key settings. http://www.iomega.com
