Upcoming SQL Server 2008 exam for business intelligence experts expected to be available some time in November this year.

A new exam for SQL Server business intelligence experts went into beta testing late last week, with testing to conclude Sept. 10. Exam 70-452 PRO: Designing a Business Intelligence Infrastructure Using SQL Server 2008, counts among two exams that candidates need to pass in order to obtain a Microsoft Certified IT Professional: Businesss Intelligence Development and Maintenance credential. (The other exam is 70-448 TS: SQL Server 2008, Business Intelligence Development and Maintenance.)

According to the exam objective guide, exam 70-452 targets BI professionals who have worked with SQL Servers BI tools for at least two years. Candidates should have intimate familiarity working with SQL Server 2008's Analysis Services, Integration Services and Reporting Services, as well as SQL Server 2008 Business Intelligence Development Studio.

While in beta, the exam is numbered 71-452; the beta registration code is available from this TechNet blog post; information on that page indicates that the exam is available worldwide except in China, India and Pakistan. Microsoft plans to release the exam in November.

Beta exams are free and those who pass the exams in beta can count the exam as a live one toward a qualifying certification. To find out more, click here.
